Ali Foundation was established in 1985 with the object of helping needy students, and supporting education,
research and training in the literary, agricultural, scientific and technical fields. Its objectives extend
over a wide range, from the support and promotion of welfare of communities and underprivileged people,
to establishing and assisting institutions, libraries and hospitals, and undertaking measures for the
diffusion of knowledge and expertise.
The Foundation may also start and administer appropriate programmes,
prizes and scholarships for education in general and for advanced scientific and management studies in particular.
A part of its income is set aside every year for awarding Syeda Mubarik Begum scholarships (named after the
late mother of Syed Babar Ali) to female students at the graduate and post-graduate levels who have excellent
academic records, and are in need of financial assistance without which they cannot pursue their studies
satisfactorily, and show an inclination towards working for the uplift of women.
